The scholarly article I chose that we read in class is The Online Disinhibition Effect. This is the one I want to use as a primary source.
This article changed my thinking in many ways. I had never thought about online communication that deeply before, but this article gave me a whole new look into it. I started to realize that there is so much more to online communication. That online communication is actually very complicated. There are so many parts to it. There is benign and toxic disinhibition. There is also six factors involved in ODE.
ODE is a huge part in online communication. Online communication is much more complex than people think. It’s not just talking to someone online. Online communication I’d like to think forms us into who we are. ODE is a part of us without even realizing it.

The link above is the second article I have chosen. I found this one on Google Scholar. This article is talking about adolescents and technology now a days. But it digs so much deeper into it. It explains how technology and online communication is forming us.
This article also made me think a lot more. Adolescents need to learn a bunch of things to form them into who they are. Most of this has to be done in face-to-face interactions and communication. But now we’re learning all of it online. Just in different ways. There is a lot of risks to this, but also more opportunities than you might think. It’s not all bad that people make it out to be.
This article is so interesting and has so many pieces to it. Really makes you think a lot more about online communication and makes you rethink some things you already knew.
